What's the matter?
In the morning of 04. May 2022 all university hospitals in North Rhine joined- Westphalia on strike. It should be the biggest, that the German healthcare system had seen so far. How could it have come to this??
Since the 90s, our healthcare system has been commercialized bit by bit – to save costs. As a result, ever sicker patients were treated and more and more tasks ended up with fewer and fewer employees and more and more people left the profession.
But instead of quitting or continuing to accept the poor conditions, the employees of the university hospitals in North Rhine-Westphalia have decided to do so, to fight for their jobs. And thus about maintaining our health system. They demand one thing above all: Relief. Enough time, to do their job properly. Enough time, so as not to get burnout.
The documentation accompanies the employees of the clinics and especially the nursing staff through the ups and downs, the court cases and state parliament resolutions and the complicated last days of the strike for the collective bargaining agreement.
