The Galleries of the Kasseler Südstadt e.V. This year, too, the gallery festival can only take place under restricted conditions. The more intensive work was done on an alternative concept, especially on the outside- and shop window areas in the city of Kassel and show them with art. Some exhibitions will even be on view beyond the weekend, more about this on our website.
The current pandemic makes us aware every day, the complexity of overcoming global crises. Under this year's title "Floating", therefore, particularly eco-political discussions such as global climate change and the exploitation of natural resources are the focus of the gallery festival. The term “floating” also works with moments of change in an associative and time-critical manner, of transition and adaptation, which the invited artists address individually in their works.
We look forward to cooperating with neighboring museums, to which the Neue Galerie, GRIMM WORLD and the Museum for Sepulchral Culture count. In addition to these, other cultural actors such as “Viva con Aqua” and “Radio Rasclat” also participate in the gallery festival. The local supporters in particular are increasingly involved in this year's planning and implementation, by providing the artists with numerous exhibition spaces in public spaces.
