Halit Yozgat was on 6. April 2006 murdered with two targeted pistol shots in the head for racist motives in his internet café in the North Holland district of Kassel. He was the ninth victim of a to 2011 ongoing right-wing extremist murder series, which went back to the terrorist group NSU and its support network. Halit Yozgat became 21 year old.

Kassel's Halitplatz has been in his memory since 2019 named after him. The father of the murdered man actually wanted it, that the Dutch street is given the name Halits. But the city decided against renaming the multi-lane arterial road and instead chose the spot in the immediate vicinity of the crime scene.

Andreas Temme was at the time of the crime, an employee of the Hessian State Office for the Protection of the Constitution, present. Despite the further investigations against Temme, multiple interrogations of him as a witness in the Munich NSU trial and in various parliamentary investigative committees, With the arrival of Yozgat's father shortly after the crime and the police's second-by-second reconstruction of the events, the attack remains to this day (Stand: 2026) not clarified.
