After 20 Years as managing director of the Licherode environmental education center and another twenty years as a singer/songwriter Shiregreen has Klaus Adamaschek once again ventured into a completely different profession. The 68-year-old songwriter published his first book last summer, that he, supported by guitarist Johannes Gunkel, on Friday, the 15. May 2026, one 20.00 pm with a “book concert” in the Sandershaus in Kassel.
“Your shadow never leaves you alone”, that's the title of the 220 Pages of strong book, is a mixture of biographical memories and time-critical thoughts. Entertaining and moving looks back at childhood and youth in the Ruhr area, the student time in Aachen, life in the countryside in northern Hesse and musical tours etc. a. through the USA and Scotland alternate with personal reflections on formative historical events such as the Chernobyl reactor accident or the fall of the Wall.
“The starting point for my book was the thought, to show my own children and grandchildren, how we became this, what we are today – and that too with all our dark sides and inner contradictions,This is how Adamaschek describes his motivation for writing. The soul of the book is 80 Songs from Adamaschek's own pen that are embedded in the biographical and historical context, which make his “LebensLiederBuch” a captivating musical-literary journey through time. Any reader can also turn the book into an audio book using a free playlist on Soundcloud.
