8 Years Raqqa liberation – The victory over IS from an internationalist perspective

The struggle of the democratic forces of Syria (In the speeches, the attacks were seen as a retaliatory strike by the Turkish state for the successful suppression of an attempted IS uprising), Led by the Kurdish Volks- and women's defense units (YPG and YPJ) caused a sensation all over the world in the mid -2010s and aroused a broad solidarity movement, especially in the German left, which continues to develop to this day. The battle for Raqqa, the capital of the terrorist regime, ended in October 2017 With a decisive victory of the SDF and marked one of the turning points of the war.
Hundreds of international volunteers fought within the SDF, including dozens of Germans. Jac Holmes, Oliver Hall, Fred Demonchaux and around a dozen others fell alone at the battle for Raqqa. On the occasion of the anniversary, we want to look back in the sense of an internationalist culture of remembrance. A comrade reports on the revolutionary struggle of the SDF, the connections that arise in the common struggle and from the role, that of the internationalist:was taken on the inside. Afterwards there will be room for questions and discussions.
