Location: On the soccer field behind the slaughterhouse, Kassel
Let's talk about city, we usually think of a place, which is determined by its cultivation with large, buildings that are close together and through the streets and paths that run between the houses. We also think about places, where these paths intersect and where a good part of life in the district takes place. We rarely look at the fallow land, on the open areas without buildings, without fixed use.
This event will focus on the use of open spaces, their importance for family-friendly urban development and the possibilities and needs for children's participation, Young people and adults when using and planning open spaces.
We have guests from Hamburg again: In her project “PARKS“ works HALLO: Association for the Promotion of Space-Open Culture e.V. in a local team in Hamburg on the collaborative development of open spaces. What is programmatic is a joint negotiation of this, what public space can be, a new way to think about public green spaces, to plan, to design, to use and thus create new practices of collaborative planning.
To the experiences of HELLO e.V. Following this, existing needs in Kassel and potentially usable open spaces are analyzed with the participants in working groups and ideas are developed. We end the evening together with a barbecue with music.
