The exhibition takes place in the showroom of the Reallabor Center for Creative Industries (ZfKW) instead of. ZfKW is a project by Glasdach e.V. – funded by the Cultural Office of the City of Kassel and the federal program “Sustainable inner cities and centers”.
With the Reallabor Center for Creative Industries, a new meeting place is being created in Kassel, Networking and further training for creative professionals, Companies and interested parties.
With the exhibition “Framing Reality” We would like to ceremoniously open the real laboratory.

Exhibition text:
Mona Eing and Michael Meissner have received multiple international awards, freelance illustrator:within. After studying design at Hannover University of Applied Sciences, they work as a creative team in the field of graphics / Illustration and focus primarily on covers for national and international magazines, Books and newspapers. They have years of contract experience in the areas of editorial and moving images. Political illustration has become her main focus – and the responsibility that comes with it, to convey ethical and socially relevant topics in the media.

since 2017 Eing and Meißner live in Kassel with their two children. In addition to their practical work, they impart their experiences and perspectives on media responsibility at universities in the form of lectures and workshops. Michael Meissner has been teaching the basics of design and drawing at several universities for two years.

Both place great value on quickly accessible and concise imagery, the sensual, sometimes humorous and outside the box.

In the area of ​​moving images, Eing and Meißner use illustrations, to present scenarios, for which there is no video- or photo materials are available. Here they create emotional depth through their color- and formal language or create an abstraction of what is being told. The two mainly work digitally, create but, if the time frame allows it, also analogue works in oil or watercolor. This diversity enables them, to react flexibly to different artistic requirements and to transfer their aesthetic questions into new contexts.

In their exhibition “Framing Reality” visitors have:inside the possibility, to design cover pages yourself and deal with the question, how they as media professionals would deal with ethical issues and responsibility - especially in view of current challenges such as growing populism, Fake news and generative AI.
