concert: Tests of courage in space (Psychedelic / Jazz)

10.04.2026
20:00

Sandershaus, Kassel

„Zero G – and I feel fine“ (John Glenn, Astronaut, USA 1965), Astronauts alike, who left their space station in space, the two musicians move Georg Stock (E-Gitarre, Electronic) and Steffen Moddrow (Drums, Percussion), seemingly weightless inside- and outside the musical boundaries, conduct psychedelic sound experiments, and experience unpredictable adventures in the cosmos of their rich 42 years of shared musical experiences. In their “cosmic debris” scattered elements of style icons from the bands of the 60s and 70s fly by: Radio elements from the Meters can be heard there, Zappaesque Soli, the hippie sounds of San Francisco’s Ashbury Heights… more name-dropping?

Moddrow’s hypnotic beats shatter, sometimes continue polyrhythmically, Stock’s orchestral guitar cascades accompanying. Stock's Stratocaster explodes into the stratosphere after previously reveling in gravity-defying melodies and rhythms.

The two musicians have been friends since the early 1980s, some of which they celebrated in spectacular bands. So z.B. “Behind The Mirror” with the legendary ex-Zappa drummer and singer Jimmy Carl Black. Steffen Moddrow is a music educator and theater composer, lives in Kassel, worked for, among others. for the Stuttgart State Theater, the WLB and the Augsburg and Heidelberg theaters. Georg Stock is a freelance musician from Stuttgart, who played guitar and keyboards in various bands (Graphic Sensibility, The Appleseeds, Erika51)

In the new one (old) Duo with Steffen Moddrow, The two musicians and friends let their inspirations run wild: “We are the best, if we don't rein in ourselves, Don't allow any limits - what emerges is different every time, every time – unpredictable and exciting for us too. In contrast to free jazz, our roots lie more in the progressive rock music of the 60s and 70s, also in blues and jazz, Folk, Country, electronic music…”
