The left faction promotes more speed in the traffic turnaround.
We finally want more speed for the traffic turnaround - for environment, health and quality of life. More mobility on foot, by bicycle, by bus and train – less motorized private transport. That is the way, to achieve the climate protection goals. Kassel has a lot Green - especially in the Fuldaauen or in the Habichtswald. But the Residents in densely built-up areas and from traffic in particular polluted parts of the city have little of it. There are green spaces and trees needed. Although most would like less traffic, there is also in Kassel more and more cars. The problem isn't with appeals to everyone solve individuals. It is a social and urban political one task, to reduce the traffic load. As a left we are committed to this, that our city gradually from freed from moving and stationary car traffic. First there, where tram and buses are already a very good alternative. We want, that for parking in public spaces (depending on the weight class vehicles) will be paid. We want public transport for free – at least for people with a small budget. And we want a car-free bonus, for all, who don't have a car, or unsubscribe it. an appropriate one We bring the motion to the city parliament. But that's not enough. So that more moves, we invite the citizens, the civil society groups and also the press to the meeting under the open sky: on Friday, 10. June from 17.00 to 19.00 o'clock in the New Ride, Corner opera street with music, culture, small children's program and bicycle self-help workshop Our idea is, that the "heart of Kassel" (in between Kurt-Schuhmacher-Strasse, stone way, Standplatz/Rudolf-Schwander and Five Star Street) becomes a special use zone; blocked for normal car traffic. Parking lots are transformed into green oases and with trees planted. Space is created in the multi-storey car parks of Stadt Kassel GmbH for cultural initiatives, Youth meetings and party, because there are big ones for that Requirement.
