The trip to Kassel went without a return for the Dutchman Cornelis van den Nieuwendijk, as he 1941 was sent to the German Reich from the employment office in Rotterdam on a “work assignment”.. “Off to Kassel – without returning” was also the title of his memoir, which gives its name to the district tours on the subject of Nazi forced labor. The tour in Kassel-Mitte focuses on (With-)Perpetration and the organization of forced labor. Facilities, which are examined in more detail here, are the former employment office, the nutrition office and the police headquarters at Königstor.
