To the lecture:
Dr. Heiko Wegmann is the initiator of “Freiburg-Postkolonial” and has published an extensive biography of Max Knecht. In it he shows exemplary, like a short one, two years of military service in German East Africa was formative: that Knecht's “colonial identity” coupled with a militaristic-racist-nationalist-social Darwinist conviction was enough, to be committed to colonialism for life.
In the lecture he will present his research and experiences in the context of Freiburg-Postkolonial and show the links between local and colonial history, whereby in the lecture also references to the DKS [is probably meant that “German colonial school for agriculture, Trade and commerce” in Witzenhausen, Note. decentralized moderation] can be produced.
