Donald Trump clearly won the presidential election in November. During the election campaign, he and the Republicans relied on isolation and tariffs, blamed China in particular for the difficult situation of the working class. Social and societal problems, including the opioid crisis, were reinterpreted in racist terms.
But the country is deeply divided. The personnel decisions that have been made public so far underline the turn towards right-wing authoritarian nationalism.
This development will be analyzed and discussed this evening:
- Why was Trump able to win with this program??
- What does the Trump project entail?: »Remigration«, authoritarian state restructuring and economic nationalist orientation?
- What economic and social consequences will this have for the country and its citizens??
- Will the fight against China lead to new military escalations?
What significance this program has for the social left in this country, should also be addressed.
