City walk: Traces of colonialism

Traces of colonialism can also be found everywhere in Kassel, often without them being perceived as such. They shape the city, in which we move in various ways - and with it ourselves. In a city tour we will explore the traces of colonialism in Kassel.

With the project 'kassel postkolonial' we are attempting it, to draw the connections between Kassel's role in historical colonialism and our everyday life today as well as to consider the interweaving of Kassel with global social developments. That means taking a look at the balance of power, racism, Throwing trade routes or architectures, consciously taking both their history and their present seriously. We try explicitly, those in Europe, the FRG and Kassel to grasp the power of colonial ideology and rule and their continuities, which are so little noticed.
