The Kassel Art Association is showing from 09.12.2022 to 08.01.2023 At the end of the exhibition activities in its temporary exhibition rooms, the first institutional solo exhibition “Vorbild” by the artist Thomas Reymann. The exhibition will be a painting show, for which Thomas Reymann creates installation spatial productions in the Kunstverein's temporary exhibition rooms. The performative intervention “The Artist is Present” will be an essential part of the exhibition.. To this end, Thomas Reymann will take on art education in his own show during opening hours and interact with the audience. This interaction goes beyond simply talking to each other and is based on the works shown, which contain specific instructions for visitors.
Thomas Reymann lives and works in Kassel. He studied painting at the Kassel Art Academy with Prof. Johannes Spehr studies and is a winner of the cdw-Stiftung gGmbH sponsorship award as part of the EXAMEN 2020 was awarded. He is a recipient of the Georg Meistermann scholarship from the Cusanuswerk 2021-2023.
Reymann's working method and the consistent rejection of classic art market strategies that underlie it have doubts and artistic self-reflection as a program and a painting task. His works are made of canvas, Packband, Pavement, Fabric and various other materials, which are dominated by a recurring diffuse brown tone. Reymann questions this, what constitutes an image or a color.
In a separate room in the exhibition rooms, a three-channel sound installation is being designed in collaboration with the musician Sebastian Jurchen. You can hear a rhythmic inner monologue at the interface between music and language. The motive of looking for a role model(ern)/doubting the role model(ern) can be experienced in an abstract form, or be tangible.
