Turning Pages is a comic festival in Kassel, that this year on 2. and 3. May will be organized for the first time by the Association for Graphic Storytelling and will take place in the Huguenot House. With exhibitions, Workshops, Lesungen, With talks and a small sales fair, we would like to make the diversity of the local graphic storytelling scene accessible to a broad public.
Kassel is a place, where many talented comic authors and artists live and work. The festival is intended to establish itself as an annual format, that the diversity of the local scene, especially the indie scene and self-publishing, takes center stage. We would like to consciously counteract outdated categorizations such as the comparison between comics and manga. Instead, we see ourselves as part of a young cultural network in Kassel, that we want to actively strengthen. Together with other actors such as the Rotopol publishing house, At the risography workshop Misprints or the Kassel School of Art, we offer a stage for regional perspectives and diverse positions.
