At home (Zoom)
The Artists union invites:
The time has come…. The 2. General meeting of the artists' union is at the door. Due to the current situation, we are also moving our event digitally – Instead of a discussion round in the factory for all kinds of things, now a video conference via Zoom.
Corona and the associated economic consequences, There are social and cultural consequences for us artists and cultural workers, but also felt directly by all other precariously employed and solo self-employed people. The support packages from the states and the federal government are limited and allow many people to fall through the cracks. They are all threatened with social decline overnight, Fear of existence or even the end of the world “Career”.
Corona only makes it more visible, how dependent and existentially threatens most artists, Cultural workers and precarious workers have always been and how little social recognition in the form of good working conditions there is in this sector. We must counteract these grievances collectively and in solidarity and the right to social security, collectively claim appropriate remuneration and protection in the event of loss of earnings.
In order to discuss this as specifically as possible based on existing labor rights and political demands, what options there are for us at the moment, do we have Ellen Sandrock-Becker as a guest. She is Union secretary at ver.di, in the department FB08 East- and northern Hesse. Ellen Sandrock-Becker will start with a short input, to present their work at ver.di and talk about union options in times of Corona. Afterwards, You can then ask questions and discuss some points with her.
You are welcome to send us specific questions in advance, which we should include in our preparations. It's best to send an email: self-help.of.the.artists(at)gmail.com
We will post the Zoom link for participation shortly Facebook.
