Marriage is sacrosanct in our society. Despite its institutionalization, it is romanticized and mythically glorified as the epitome of love. Marriage for women often increases inequality, and it leads to financial dependence. The bestselling author Emily Roig looks behind the facade of a patriarchal construct and shows the way to a revolution of love. Marriage normalizes relationships and family, controls sexuality, property and labor. It is an important pillar of capitalism and keeps us stuck in binary gender roles. In her courageous and provocative book, Emilia Roig calls for the end of marriage. She questions the dominance of couples and investigates, whether you can love men and overthrow the patriarchy at the same time. Ultimately, abolishing marriage would not only be liberating for women, but for everyone. Because only then can we rethink and live love with one another in freedom and on an equal footing. Emilia Roig has a doctorate in political science and is the founder of the Center for Intersectional Justice in Berlin. She teaches at various universities and gives keynotes and lectures on intersectionality, Feminism, racism, Discrimination and has the bestseller Why we matter. The end of oppression written. Emilia is an Ashoka Fellow and became 2022 zur »Most Influential Woman of the Year« des Impact of Diversity Award gewählt.
