5.Part of the event series – 140 Years of the Berlin Africa Conference: Imperialism yesterday and today –

In front 140 Years ago, European colonial powers met in Berlin, to negotiate the division of the African continent between themselves. While just a few years before the conference, only a fraction of Africa was under colonial rule, was the end of 19. In the 19th century, almost the entire continent was under Great Britain, France, Germany, Portugal, Italy, Belgium and Spain divided. The Berlin Africa Conference 1884/1885 is symbolic of this race for Africa and is considered the high phase of European imperialism.
