JMO: Three countries - one language!

Jan Galega presents Brönnimann for its 10th anniversary, Moussa Cissokho and Omri Hason release their third CD In Ia Yelle. On Mandinka, the language of an ethnic group in West Africa, that means: Open Your Eyes. JMO is not just the initials of the three musicians Jan Galega Brönnimann, Moussa Cissokho and Omri Hason, but also the three main influences in their music: Jazz – Mandinka – Orient The first two CDs “Al nge taa” and “Dandoula Tala” were internationally celebrated by the press and the public and are now in their third edition and have been sold over 5000 once sold. The music of JMO – Jan Galega Brönnimann (Switzerland), Moussa Cissokho (Senegal) and Omri Hason (Israel) – revives the art of storytelling. The sparkling clear sound of the kora (traditional African bridge harp with 22 strings) meets the sonorous ones, smoky tones of the bass clarinet and is supported by Omri Hason's various percussion instruments. The interaction of Moussa Cissokho, Jan Galega Brönnimann and Omri Hason impress with their beautiful melodies and rhythmic elegance - in their unforgettable live concerts, the three oscillate between magically transfigured moments and rhythmically explosive flights of fancy. The result is authentic and contemporary chamber music. The trio crosses boundaries between traditional and modern sounds from Africa, Europe and the Orient. The repertoire comes from all three musicians and shows their different influences. The meeting of the three cultures, the selection of instruments and the rich pool of ideas, Melodies and rhythms make the music an unforgettable listening adventure!

Influenced by the cultural heritage of West African griot songs, Moussa Cissokho sings about contemporary life in Africa and Europe. His lyrics are about longing, about mysterious rivers or experiences with border controls in Europe. He belongs to the 42. Generation of the great Kora dynasty and griot family Cissokho, which for over 1000 has shaped the tradition of West African music for years. JMO has been around for now 10 Traveled internationally for years and played in Japan, France, Israel, Slovakia, Holland, Germany, Spain, England, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuanese, Austria, Moldova, Czech Republic, Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, Italy, Romania, Slovenia, Norway and Switzerland.
