Auction of Souls:
on the occasion of Commemorating the Armenian genocide 105 years this week Gorki Stream SPECIAL: On Friday we show a recording of AUCTION OF SOULS, the story of a desperate attempt, to tell the indescribable of the genocide.
In the year 1918 solved the book Ravished Armenia, the eyewitness report of the then 18 year old Aurora Mardiganian, who relentlessly described her suffering through the massacres of the Armenian genocide, a wave of dismay. From the film adaptation, the 1919 with Aurora in the leading role, only a few scenes and the script are preserved today. The copies disappeared like the memory of Aurora, who died completely impoverished and forgotten in Los Angeles at the age of 92. Arsinée Khanjian reconstructs the story of a desperate attempt, to tell the indescribable.
