80. Silvia Gingold's birthday

Silvia Gingold was born on 15. July 1946 born in Frankfurt am Main. Her father fled 1933 went to Paris with his Jewish-communist family and fought there with Gingold's mother in the resistance against National Socialism.

1956 The family's German citizenship was revoked as a result of the KPD ban. It was only years later that she was able to fight for reinstatement.

Gingold campaigned against rearmament early on, at Easter marches and in the DKP.

At the beginning of the 1970s, she was banned from working at the insistence of the domestic secret service. This could be partially reversed thanks to broad political solidarity.

2024 took them to the Federal Constitutional Court due to decades of surveillance by the Office for the Protection of the Constitution.

She worked as a teacher in northern Hesse until she retired and is still publicly committed as a peace activist to this day, and anti-fascist and against professional bans.
