Was? We show “It is not the homosexual who is perverted, but the situation, in which he lives” by Rosa von Praunheim from the year 1971 (67 me). The film shows gay life in Berlin in the 1960s. A core statement: With their lives in secret and their attempts to adapt to mainstream society, homosexuals are partly responsible for their poor situation. Coming out, Political organizing and mutual support are necessary for a better life. “Get out of the toilets, into the streets, Freedom for the gays!” The film is considered one of the triggers for the queer resistance movement in Germany from the 1970s onwards. We've been wanting to watch it for a long time and now we're just doing it with you! After the film there is still the possibility, hanging out together at the bar and sipping drinks on a donation basis.
who? The counter is aimed primarily at all queer people. We’ll leave it up to you what queer means to you. You are also warmly invited, if you are unsure, whether you fall under queer.

**Invitation to the Queer Bar – Movie and Drinks**
When? Monday, 26th of February, 6:30 pm
Where? At the aka, Werner Hilpert Strasse 22 (limited accessibility, several door thresholds and no WC accessible to wheelchairs or equipped with grab rails, smoke-free).
What? We’re screening “It Is Not the Homosexual Who Is Perverse, But the Society in Which He Lives” by Rosa von Praunheim from 1971 (67 me). The movie shows the life of gay men in Berlin in the 1960s. A key message: by living in hiding and their attempts to adapt to the dominant society, homosexuals are contributing to their miserable condition. Getting into the open, political organizing and mutual support are necessary for a better life. “Out of the toilets, into the streets, freedom for gay people!” The movie is considered one of the catalysts for the queer resistance movement in West Germany from the 1970s onwards. We’ve wanted to watch it for a long time and now we’re doing it together with you! After the movie, we can hang out at the bar and sip drinks together.
Who? The bar is primarily aimed at our fellow queers. What queer means to you is up to you. You are also welcome to come if you are not quite sure whether you fall under queer or not.
We show the movie in German spoken language. Unfortunately, there are no other languages or subtitles available.
