Was? Wir zeigen “Nicht der Homosexuelle ist pervers, sondern die Situation, in der er lebt” von Rosa von Praunheim aus dem Jahr 1971 (67 me). Der Film zeigt schwules Leben im Berlin der 60er Jahre. Eine Kernaussage: Mit ihrem Leben im Verborgenen und ihren Anpassungsversuchen an die Mehrheitsgesellschaft sind Homosexuelle mit selbst verantwortlich für ihre schlechte Lage. Herauskommen, politische Organisierung und gegenseitige Unterstützung sind notwendig für ein besseres Leben. “Raus aus den Toiletten, rein in die Straßen, Freiheit für die Schwulen!” Der Film gilt als einer der Auslöser für die queere Widerstandsbewegung in der BRD ab den 1970er Jahren. Wir wollen ihn schon lange anschauen und machen das jetzt einfach mit euch zusammen! Nach dem Film gibt es noch die Möglichkeit, gemeinsam an der Bar abzuhängen und Getränke auf Spendenbasis zu schlürfen.

**Invitation to the Queer Bar – Movie and Drinks**
When? Monday, 26th of February, 6:30 pm
Where? At the aka, Werner Hilpert Strasse 22 (limited accessibility, several door thresholds and no WC accessible to wheelchairs or equipped with grab rails, smoke-free).
What? We’re screening “It Is Not the Homosexual Who Is Perverse, But the Society in Which He Lives” by Rosa von Praunheim from 1971 (67 me). The movie shows the life of gay men in Berlin in the 1960s. A key message: by living in hiding and their attempts to adapt to the dominant society, homosexuals are contributing to their miserable condition. Getting into the open, political organizing and mutual support are necessary for a better life. “Out of the toilets, into the streets, freedom for gay people!” The movie is considered one of the catalysts for the queer resistance movement in West Germany from the 1970s onwards. We’ve wanted to watch it for a long time and now we’re doing it together with you! After the movie, we can hang out at the bar and sip drinks together.
Who? The bar is primarily aimed at our fellow queers. What queer means to you is up to you. You are also welcome to come if you are not quite sure whether you fall under queer or not.
We show the movie in German spoken language. Unfortunately, there are no other languages or subtitles available.
