Am 21. July are around the memorial stone at Holländischer Platz 30 people came together, to commemorate the deceased drug users.
In Kassel there have been memorials since the last day of remembrance 27 People have lost their lives as a result of drug use or its consequences.
There was speech- and music contributions, before the names of those who died in Kassel last year were read out. Afterwards, a balloon was released for each person who died.
In Kassel, the commemoration was organized by the Drug Aid North Hesse and visitors to the Café Nautilus in cooperation with the Aidshilfe Kassel.
At least 2.150 People died 2025 in Germany as a result of drug use. This year's Remembrance Day was held under the motto “Change, to save lives". The day of remembrance carries out important mourning work and would like to call for a more humane drug policy and call on politicians and society to take action.
