Henschel site: Expulsion of artists?

In an open letter, the Henschel grounds interest group criticizes the planned development plan for the Henschel grounds. The planning suppresses art and culture and subordinates the development of the district to the interests of the arms industry. The letter to Mayor Schoeller was sent by over 20 Initiatives and associations from Rothenditmold signed.

This was preceded by the presentation of the development plan by the city, planning office and the Berlin investor Sector Seven. The plan envisages partial use of the Henschel site by the defense company KNDS. The initiators of the letter see cultural workers on the area in particular as threatened.

While the discussions are still ongoing, Investor Sector Seven already seems to want to create facts. According to our information, several tenants on the Henschel site received rent increases of over 70 %. As the interest group writes in its open letter: “That’s expulsion.”
