Changing majorities and disputes over departments
The talks about a coalition of Greens, The CDU and SPD in Kassel have failed. Despite intensive discussions, there was no sufficient political basis for a coalition. Instead, the Kassel city council will work with changing majorities in the future.
According to the Greens, the Finance Department's offer to the SPD remains intact. The CDU is also showing interest in what Matthias Nölke is currently doing (FDP) occupied post. She just wants to support the deselection of Nölke, if it receives the finance department, and in return offers the SPD the social affairs department. However, the SPD would like to hold on to the finance department.
The model of changing majorities could put the debate about actual content more at the center of political decisions in the Kassel town hall. Instead of a solid coalition, all factions must find new majorities for their projects.
