New ice rink under criticism

Millions of tax money for investor project

Am 22.06. the Kassel city council decided, that 20 Mio. € for the expansion of the Sports Campus Süd be issued. The money comes from the federal government's special fund for the expansion of municipal infrastructure. The construction of the new ice rink alone should 6 Mio. € cost and end 2027 get finished. The investor and managing director was responsible for the construction Kassel Huskies, Paul Sinizin, advertised in advance.

The BUND and the Kassel left-wing faction express criticism. The special fund is intended for the expansion and renovation of schools and daycare centers as well as for climate protection and not for private projects and elite sports centers.

The closeness between Sinizin and chamberlain Matthias Nölke raises additional questions (FDP) on. Both have appeared together on social media in the past and, among other things, promoted one “Founder-friendly administration”. Sinizin also worked in the local election campaign 2026 in election advertising for the FDP.
