In Kassel's Nordstadt it's the weekend a new neighborhood store opens. The organization “Kassel Solidarisch” opened the store this weekend with a feminist festival and an open day. The neighborhood from the northern part of the city was invited.
The district shop on Holländische Straße 88 is intended to bring the neighborhood together and be one place, to fight together against problems and for the interests of the majority – according to the co-initiators:within.
There are now various offers to take part. Solidarity advice is planned, a kitchen for everyone as well as open events such as game evenings. The shop is independent and is supported by the members themselves in terms of content and finances.
There is currently another independent neighborhood store in Kassel: die „Rothe Ecke“ in Rothenditmold. In neighboring cities such as Witzenhausen and Göttingen, the neighborhoods have become increasingly interconnected in recent years.
