Renter:Inside, housing group GWH set an ultimatum
Several dozen tenants:inside protested on Thursday in front of the Kassel headquarters GWH because of blatant housing shortages. Strong heat development due to inadequate insulation and health risks due to leaky roofs, Burst water pipes and mold are part of the daily routine for many people in the Brückenhof district
The tenants:Inside, under the motto “Social Heat Transition”, they are calling for defects to be rectified immediately and offering the prospect of rent reductions, should that GWH do not comply with the demands within eight weeks: „Die GWH hardly cares about the apartments. Instead of bringing the houses up to modern standards, they are only interested in their profit”, such a tenant.
According to the current annual report, the profit is enormous. This shows record profits for the housing group: From barely 9 €/m² cold rent was almost 2 €/m² in profits poured out, but only 0,7 €/m² reinvested in their own apartments.
