It was announced last week, that the opening of the new wallpaper museum will be postponed again. The new building was originally supposed to be on Wilhelmshöher Allee 2026 and thus to the documenta 16 finish and 25 cost millions of euros. The opening has now been set for autumn 2027 postponed and will probably be the state of Hesse 10 Cost millions of euros more than planned.
The new wallpaper museum building is one of Kassel's construction projects, which are planned around the documenta tourist magnet. Adjacent to the museum, the Brothers Grimm Square is currently being used for the documenta 16 rebuilt. For this, the building department expects approx. 10 Millions of euros in costs.
At the same time, the black-red state government asserts, that there is not enough money for social welfare. A parliamentary question recently emerged, that in the year 2025 more than 55 Millions of euros were missing for social housing construction in Kassel.
