On Tuesday, 18.05.2026, took part approx. 150 People at a rally against the planned social cuts. The precarious situation was addressed in speeches by educators, among others:within, single parents and the disabled.
The reason for the rally was the revelations of the “Paritätisches”. According to these should 8,6 Billions of euros will be saved in the social sector. Young workers are particularly affected by this- and care sector as well as already disadvantaged groups. The connection between the increased costs of rearmament and the Bundeswehr and the aggressive austerity policy of the Merz government was repeatedly made.
The solidarity alliance Care-Arbeit Kassel had called for a rally and the start of broader resistance against the cuts plans. The alliance “Shorten? Not with us!” plan further actions such as a demonstration on 20.06. in Kassel. Strikes against the cuts cannot be ruled out either.
