70 People have on 29. October 2020 one 17:30 Demonstrated in front of the town hall for the decentralized accommodation of refugees and access to medical care for all people. The protest was directed against the living conditions in the initial reception facility for refugees in Kassel Niederzwehren. The “Solidarity City” initiative called for the rally.

Since then it became known, that at least 112 the 301 Residents were infected with the coronavirus, the accommodation has been standing since then 10. October 2020 under quarantine. Reports from residents the accommodation in Niederzwehren have made clear again and again, that the living conditions in the accommodation do not allow measures to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. This was pointed out in the speeches at the rally, that the demand for decentralized accommodation of refugees has been around since the beginning of Corona- Pandemic was expressed.
The living conditions in the collective accommodation are politically desired and not the result of a lack of resources, said a speaker from “Solidarity City”. People would be specifically denied humane living conditions and a secure perspective. Authorities and politicians would assume this, that other people could be deterred from doing so, to flee to Germany. The speeches therefore not only focused on the situation of refugees in the face of Corona- Pandemic alerted. Rather, the speakers emphasized, that the treatment of refugees in Germany is an expression of society's racism. This racism permeates official actions and political decisions and is noticeable for refugees every day.

The “Solidarity City” initiative advocates for a city based on solidarity, in which all people have equal rights regardless of passport, Resident status and financial means can live together. That the rally took place under the slogan “#KasselHältZusammen” posted on the town hall, is particularly cynical given the reason for the rally. The rally made it clear repeatedly, that not all people are currently included in the collective “Kassel”., who live in Kassel.
