Am 05.09.2020 fand in Kassel die Demonstration „We’ll come united- 5 years march of hope“ statt. round 200 Protesters moved from the main train station to the city center, to demonstrate against racism and the restrictive migration policy of the federal government.

The event was part of the Germany-wide, decentralized days of action against racism, to which the "We'll come united" initiative called. On the occasion of the march of hope There were actions and demonstrations at the weekend, among others in the cities of Berlin, Kiel, Hamburg, Frankfurt, Vienna and Bern.
The march of hope refers to an action by several thousand refugees, Which 2015 began a protest march in Budapest towards the German-Austrian border. At that time, the refugees empowered their own mobility, after having been forced to stay at the Keleti train station for a week and thus moved their acceptance by the German and Austrian governments. The march of hope stands for the hope of a humane migration policy and an open Europe.

The demonstration in Kassel was intended to remind of this hope. At the same time, the previous disappointment with the since 2015 the increasingly restrictive migration policy of the federal government and the European Union addressed.
There are currently reports of illegal pushbacks on the Croatian border, that is, forcible returns, without granting the right to apply for asylum. Further shows the permanent refusal to admit refugees rescued from distress at sea, as last in the case of the "Louise Michel" boat, how European border policy accepts human lives. The urgently needed evacuation of the transit camps on the Greek islands has not yet been carried out despite the global Covid-19 pandemic.
In addition to migration policy, the speeches at the demonstration addressed various forms of racism, wie Racial Profiling, institutional disadvantages when looking for accommodation and on the labor market, and the downplaying of acts of terrorism such as the Hanau attack in February 2020.
