Warning strike in the hospital

500 Employees of the Kassel Clinic stopped working on Wednesday and Thursday. They strike for 4,8% more wages, better training conditions and equalization of the lower wage groups.

As part of the collective bargaining negotiations between ver.di and the board of directors of the public service were also called for a warning strike in Kassel this week. During the two days, the workers of the clinic demonstrated with hundreds of people in Nordstadtpark and on Kassel's Königsplatz. With the motto “Applause was yesterday” showed the strikers, that the staging of a German Corona community is not crucial for them. Instead, they fight for their everyday lives: for material concessions and better working conditions.

“We will continue to strike until our demands are met!”

That the demands of the workers must be fought for, shows the offer submitted by the other side after the end of the strike. The slight and gradual wage increase envisaged in it was considered by ver.di “brash” rejected. Whether the willingness to strike will actually be maintained by the trade union negotiators, will be discussed in the upcoming collective bargaining talks 22. and 23. October show.

However, the current labor dispute gives hope for a union left, which in the Corona crisis is not content with maintaining social peace, but which continues to try to actively intervene in social contradictions.
